Description
The headline number on this one is its ambient range. Dawlance rates the Dual Pro T3 to go on cooling from 15°C all the way to 55°C outdoor, which is a wider envelope than the rest of the T3 range and the specific reason to choose it over a standard inverter.
Capacity and range
18,000 BTU/h cooling, the standard 1.5 ton figure, suited to a room of roughly 150 to 250 square feet. The function is reversible, so it heats as well, with a heating range of -6°C to 18°C. Cooling running current is 10A and heating 10.5A, with an A rating on heating.
The compressor
DC inverter with LVS, meaning it will start and hold speed when incoming voltage drops rather than stalling. Refrigerant is R32, which carries a considerably lower global warming potential than the older R410A and tends to be slightly more efficient to run.
Coil and air handling
Gold Fin coating on both condenser and evaporator, which slows the corrosion that dust and humidity work on bare aluminium. The evaporator self-cleans after shutdown so damp does not sit in the indoor unit. Jet Cool pulls a hot room down quickly, I-Feel reads temperature at the remote rather than at the wall, and there is auto swing, silent mode, sleep mode and auto-restart after a cut. The filter is the easily removable type.
Worth knowing
At 10A cooling draw this is a thirstier unit than the Hyper or Magna T3, which run at 6.7A. You are paying that current for the wider ambient envelope, so it earns its keep in a west-facing room or an unshaded roof installation rather than a sheltered bedroom.
