Description

The HFAB series covers Haier’s T3 inverters, and this one comes in grey. That sounds trivial, but almost every split sold in this market is white, and in a room with dark furniture or a feature wall the difference is the one thing you will notice every day.

The T3 compressor

T3 is a climate rating for the compressor. It certifies that the unit is built to keep producing rated cooling when outdoor ambient is high, rather than losing capacity as the afternoon peaks. It is the single specification that separates an air conditioner that works in this climate from one that merely works.

Capacity

1.5 ton, for a room of roughly 150 to 250 square feet. Heat and cool, so it runs year round.

Coil and refrigerant

Anti-corrosion treatment on the condenser against the pitting that dust and humidity cause over seasons. Self-cleaning evaporator so the indoor coil dries after shutdown instead of staying damp. R32 refrigerant, lower impact than R410A and easier to source locally for a top-up.

Colour note

Grey indoor units photograph badly and look far better in person than on a screen. Worth seeing before you rule it out on the basis of a product image.
